Crowd1 Review – Is it a Crowd Marketing Pyramid Scheme in Disguise?

crowd1 review

Welcome to this Crowd1 Review.

You’re probably here because of the attention that Crowd1 is receiving on social media or maybe you have been approached by a Crowd1 affiliate trying to get you to sign up.

It would seem that Crowd1 are currently targeting undeveloped nations, like South Afrika and India and you have to ask the question why?

They have certainly been noticed in the media by the BBC. So much so that an investigative journalist devoted several months and can be seen on social media.

What we are seeing is a massive upward trend in the multi-level-marketing businesses since the forced lockdowns that we see ourselves in and you need to be very careful.

Do not believe anything an affiliate of these businesses tell you but do your own research first and be thorough about it too.

Rest assured, I am in no way associated with Crowd1 and won’t find me trying to sell or pitch you anything.

What you will find in this Crowd1 review is an honest account of who they are and whether it is a business you may want to consider or one that you should stay well away from.

So without further ado, let’s get right into it.

What is Crowd1 about and who are the Founders?

Crowd1 is a multi-level marketing business that was founded in early 2019 by Jonas Werner with headquarters in Dubai, a tax haven for companies that don’t do business there.

Crowd1 uses an education platform at the forefront connecting affiliates to gambling and gaming sites with many still to be added.

How you get paid is through what they claim profit-sharing, but the real money actually comes from recruiting, just like all MLMs.

The Crowd1 website doesn’t give you any real information so we took a look at the domain details and found that

Crowd1.com was initially registered in 2007 and the owner at the time was a guy from Cyprus, Stelio Piskopianos with no history except for in 2018 when Crowd1 traded as a cryptocurrency business but appears to be short-lived.

Crowd1 review - Crypto

Just what happened to this business is a bit of a mystery.

The founder for this version of Crowd1 is a Swedish entrepreneur called Jonas Werner but seems to have played a small part, with the CEO, a guy called Johan Staël Von Holstein taking the more active role.

Crowd1 is in around 170 countries and with well over 10 million members as of this review must be doing something very convincing.

They have certainly made an impact and brought a lot of attention to themselves across the globe but regulators are always slow to act.

Like I mentioned earlier, they are making a firm commitment to undeveloped countries such as South Africa and India.

Check out this short video to get a better all-around feel of who Crowd1 really are.

Just who are Jonas Werner and Johan Staël Von Holstein

Jonas Werner, Swedish born brings 20 years experience with him and founded Crowd1 in 2019.

We found out that he had links to several companies prior to Crowd1.

One of the companies was Synkronice Springlo in around 2010 with many of their members claiming that it was a pyramid scheme after targeting the younger people with the promise of large profits.

He left and joined another network marketing company, Opn-Sitetalk with similar issues relating to pyramid scheme claims.

That company joined forces with Onecoin in 2015 and that turned out to be a Ponzi scheme.

Johan Staël Von Holstein is another Swedish entrepreneur who made his fortune in the early dotcom days.

He founded Icon Medialab where he made his fortune with a company valuation of $480 million at its peak.

Unfortunately at the end of dot.com, the share price dropped by around 95% which saw the end for Icon Medialab.

He spent some time writing columns for several major Swedish newspapers as well as starting an IT company named Mycube which was supposed to compete with Google as a search engine, but with delays, the board ended up firing him.

He took on the role of CEO at Crowd1 in 2019 and recently choose to leave for health reasons.

Is Crowd1 a Pyramid Scheme?

Deciding on whether a company is oIs Crowd1 a pyramid scheme

perating as a pyramid scheme can be very difficult.

To be exempt from been an outright pyramid scheme a company must have a product or service of value and this is where it gets a little complicated.

If you take a look at the main product which starts the ball rolling.

An education platform on “how to be a real estate investor”

Looking at this so-called Crowd1 review - how to be a real estate investor

training and all I can see is a bunch of stuff copied straight from a book by Phil Pustejovsky.

Not sure just how they would stand with copy write laws or maybe he’s on their payroll.

Since then they have added several other products, and I get the feeling this is just to disguise the fact that they are operating as a pyramid scheme but that is my own opinion.

Any multi-level marketing business could not succeed if it wasn’t for recruiting and that’s fine providing there is a service or product of some value.

You can take a look at what Pyramid Schemes are all about in this short video.

Success is Unlikely with Crowd1

Multi-level-marketing companies are notoriously difficult to succeed in and it’s a known fact that the top 1% is where all the money ends up. In fact, that percentage is around .22% to be more precise.

They are designed that way to benefit the key players. That’s why they have complex compensation plans to confuse the hell out of you.

You will see this with the compensation plan that I will be discussing a little later on.

That’s 99% who do not earn enough for it to replace their existing jobs.

There are between 55 and 75 per cent that leave in the first 12 month period.

But still, people join them in their droves thinking they can crack the code.

Are you aware that some of the top players are actually paid to join these MLMs and why is that you may think?

Simply because they are high profile network marketers that come with a massive following and that can only be good for the owners, right?

You may think that I am having a dig at MLMs and that I am totally against them?

Well, I have tried them in the past but they didn’t work out for me and I didn’t earn any money.

Crowd1 does not have an income disclosure, but that really doesn’t matter because the ones you do see don’t hide the fact that it is very rare to succeed.

It’s like they are proud to disclose such information.

Let’s look at the Crowd1 products

Crowd1 review - 3rd party companies

According to Crowd1, apart from recruitment, there is what they call profit-sharing which we’ll get to in a while which come from some of the apps listed above.

OK, so going from the left we have their flagship product which is…

  • MyGrithub

Crowd1 claim this is an education platform and this is what you buy into if you want to earn any money with Crowd1.

There are 4 education packages that teach you various levels of how to succeed as a Real Estate Investor.

“World Class Crowd Marketing Real Estate Training” is how it is defined on the MyGrithub.com website.

Like I mentioned earlier, all this training comes straight from a book that was published by Phil Pustejovsky, How to be a real estate investor.

This is the price you have to pay if you want to start earning with Crowd1.

    • Bronze @ 99 euros
    • Silver @ 299 euros
    • Gold @ 799 euros
    • Platinum @ 2499 euros

Why, when you can purchase the entire book for less than $10 on Amazon.

This is a major Red Flag

  • Affilgo

The next-generation affiliate network, which is basically a gambling network with games in Baccarat, Poker and Bingo to name but a few.

The only problem we have here is that there are no games on the www.affilgo.com website.

  • Miggster

Here we have a mobile gaming app that was launched in November 2020 and links to Emerge Esports which is a professional gaming site based in Singapore.

So Miggster.com is the front-end to Emerge.

Earn Miggster tokens which allow you the chance of winning prizes and promotional prizes.

A quick glance at Google trending shows you that interest is somewhat dwindling with Crowd1 and 2 of their main apps.

crowd1 review - Trending comparison. Crowd1, Miggster, Affilgo

  • CROWD

This is their own professionally designed magazine, which basically glorifies who Crowd1 are and what they are about.

A high-tech magazine that glorifies Crowd1 and the lifestyle that they say is possible but in reality well beyond the reach of many.

A very professional looking magazine all the same.

  • Epic 1 Lotto

This app gives you access to play the 6 main lotto’s throughout the world but only available in certain countries.

  • Life Trnds

Is a travel website that promises to be better than Booking.com and Expedia.

The only problem here is that the lifetrnds.com website doesn’t actually do anything itself, but links to the Booking.com and Expedia websites to book your travel.

Of course, you can signup as a member for free but they are offering a membership that comes at a price of $10 or $49 a month.

So what you have here is a business claiming to get you the best deals and for a price, you can become part of their compensation plan.

You might as well go straight to either Booking.com or Expedia and potentially save yourself $588

  • SAfer

Crowd1 claim this is a security app which basically turns your mobile into a device to scare off predators.

SA stands for South Afrika which can be a dangerous country at the best of times.

Not sure what an alarm is going to do if you are miles from civilisation.

[GPS tracking, SAfer is a personal safeguarding solution available nationwide in South Africa. It is South Africa’s fastest armed service to households, companies and private households] What Crowd1 claim!

For 44.99 South African Rand a month, approx $3 is a fortune for many living in poverty.

The only problem is that this app doesn’t appear to work.

crowd1 reviews - SAfer

Two of the complaints have even given the app 3 stars. Whatever happened to zero stars?

Of course, all Crowd1 are going to do is just add further Apps even though the ones they currently have are garbage and have no real value.

If you want to play games do what many do and purchase an Xbox!

These are the products that you, as a member will be making money through their profit sharing.

Just how this is going to work is beyond me, considering nothing else appears to do.

Can you see a trend here?

Crowd1 Business Opportunity – What you need to know

Is there a business opportunity?

Well over 10 million people must think so, so can they all be wrong?

That been said, let’s continue…

How to become a Crowd1 Affiliate

That’s easy, you need to find a sponsor before you sign up.

Now unless you know someone then you are going to have to look for one and that’s what I did on Facebook.

The reply I got was “you can find a sponsor on Facebook” and I thought that was very unhelpful so I guess you have to friend people you don’t know.

Now choosing any sponsor is where most people go wrong because you need a sponsor who is going to train and guide you because it is in their interest to do so.

Once you have found a sponsor, then you can register and join for free but unless you want to make some money then you will have to purchase 1 of the 4 education packages.

Not sure this would interest anybody.

Why not educate people in Network Marketing?

However, these packages are going to cost you if you want to take part in their business opportunity…

    • Bronze @ 99 euros
    • Silver @ 299 euros
    • Gold @ 799 euros
    • Platinum @ 2499 euros

They come with owner rights too so you can sell on and make some money.

How to Make Money with Crowd1

Although the main way to make money in any MLM is through recruiting, Crowd1 has a bunch of apps.

Participate in the apps and get others to join and you will get paid by way of commissions.

Of course, the number of commissions you get is based on many factors.

Crowd1 Compensation Plan

Now, this is where it gets complicated because compensation plans are notoriously complex and for good reason too.

They like to baffle you and make you think that you will be getting more than what you think you’ll be getting.

Therefore, if you have a little time then you might want to try and work it all out yourself by reading this pdf, or if you are like me then let someone else do it for you by clicking on the video below.

Are Crowd1 affiliates actually making money?

A bit of a closed shop is this.

Well, it is possible to earn some money like it is with most MLMs but it is unlikely you will make enough to replace any existing job that you are currently holding down.

In fact, you are likely to be out of pocket.

The real earners are the ones at the top of the pyramid that you will be propping up.

That is just a reality.

What Others Say About Crowd1

There are mixed feelings, but what we are seeing are people just not getting paid with excuses down to Covid-19. How convenient.

They are offering payments in Bitcoin, but if you know anything about crypto then it isn’t just a matter of setting up a bank transfer from Bitcoin to your bank account.

There is a lot of complexity involved with restrictions and handling costs and besides with crypto such a volatile currency to work with we can see Bitcoin fluctuations dropping $10 in an 18 hour period as we’ve seen recently.

What does that mean for you?

Any money you were getting will be more than likely less when you eventually transfer it into hard currency.

What I like about Crowd1

There is absolutely nothing I like about Up2Give.

I have done extensive research on this company and as far as I am concerned they are operating a pyramid scheme disguised by a bunch of apps that have no real value to the affiliate.

Of course, you make up your own mind and may think there is value here.

What I don’t like about Crowd1

Far too many things wrong with this business and I had to hold back on the number of issues I came across.

  1. Lack of transparency

The website should hold all the information that people are looking for but what I found myself doing was going to Facebook and asking a bunch of questions.

To which I was told to find a sponsor and sign up and we will answer all your questions.

Really, that wasn’t the answer I was expecting.

  1. Head offices are in Dubai

A tax haven for companies registered but don’t do business there.

  1. Pyramid Scheme in disguise

It is clear to me that they are operating a pyramid scheme in disguise and that should be obvious to anybody looking in.

I have gone through the “profit-sharing” apps and found a lot of red flags.

Crowd1 will just keep adding more apps.

I haven’t gone into details about what other countries are saying with some even banning Crowd1, but a quick Google search will unravel those details.

  1. Affiliates not been paid

I see many complaints of affiliates not getting paid with reasons like this is down to the Covid-19 virus.

  1. Google trending

Crowd1 has peaked and interest nowadays is not so great and could this be down to people actually realizing this was not the business they thought?

crowd1 review - Trending

Is Crowd1 a SCAM?

Technically, Crowd1 is not a scam although you will see many saying otherwise.

As we can see there are a bunch of Apps that are just front-ends linking to 3rd party software.

Even their travel website links to Booking.com and Expedia while they let you believe otherwise.

Their flagship product with packages ranging from 99 euros up to 2499 euros is nothing more than copied text straight from the book, “How to be a real estate investor” by Phil Pustejovsky, which you can purchase for $10 on Amazon.

An education platform should provide courses of value to the affiliate.

Just how many people in underdeveloped countries are going to want to learn how to become real estate investor? You need money to do this!

Years gone by I have been stung by companies just like this and it is my intention to get to the bottom of Crowd1 so that you don’t fall into their trap and make the same mistakes that I did.

Crowd1 Review – Final Analysis

What can be said about Crowd1 is that in the 2 years since they were founded they have come a long way with well over 10 million members in around 170 countries.

If you take a look on Youtube at their events they really know how to get people excited, and the reason why they are excited is that the ones on stage are raking it in.

You have to learn not to be taken in by all the hype and BS and certainly not what any Crowd1 affiliate tells you if they approach you.

I can’t stress enough how difficult MLMs are. Remember if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Listen to your intuition.

Building any business is hard work but what happens if the MLM company closes (which they often do)? You are left with absolutely nothing and any money owed to you will be lost. Seen this happen so many times before!

If you are looking for a business opportunity, then start a business yourself and be in full control. Affiliate marketing allows you to do this.

Create a business about something you love like an interest or a hobby and not some crappy products or services.

There are literally hundreds of millions of products to promote and nearly 5 billion internet users.

Around 4.5 billion are searching in Google alone with over 7.5 billion keyword searches every single day. Those are your potential customers.

All you have to do is find out what they are searching for using a keyword research tool like Jaaxy and create amazing content.

Hard work, consistency, dedication and patience with of course the right mindset.

You need to invest in yourself and not some other business that may not be around in the next 5 years.

Wealthy affiliate is probably the best training platform for learning how to become an affiliate marketer and you can read about them here.

How I make a Living Online

I have tried MLMs in the past and know what they are about but never been a fan.

Recruiting friends and family did not sit right with me especially as I had no clue whether the business would work or not.

I’m not saying you won’t make some money, but the money you do make won’t be enough to replace an existing job.

Just a few things I do not like about MLMs

    • Recruiting
    • Getting family and friends involved, which is what they teach you
    • Cold calling
    • Pressures from sponsors to meet targets
    • Mounting costs
    • Not being in control
    • No real business to show of
    • If you want to progress you have to attend events
    • When/if the business closes you have nothing to show for all your hard work
  • Here are just a few success stories that I choose at random…
    1. Ralph reached his goal of a six-figure business in 2018. Check his story here

  1. I hadn’t heard of Crowd1. It seems quite confusing as to what I’d be buying into, so I wouldn’t take a chance with it. I like your thinking that they’re probably preying upon lesser developed countries for a reason. Thanks for making us aware of this company!

  2. Such a great article. I’m glad you exposed them for what they really are. It’s a shame that they are targeting countries filled with people who have dreams of a better life only to be scammed. I hope your article reaches out to many and saves people from becoming victims of their scam.

I have to say the testimonials showing under how you make money is really impressive. Looks like lots of people are accomplishing their dreams. I will be checking out your link. I just first wanted to thank you for exposing this scam.
    God Bless,
    Jamie

  3. Thanks for the post Mick.

Their website looks confusing and I am not sure of what they are even about if I was just going by their site layout. sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

I have been through the gamut of network marketing companies over the years… usually, supplement companies. I am a nutrition junkie. Most of them peddled way overpriced products which you could find similar items cheaper these days. In the 1990s, the products seemed like a better deal when I could only price check with expensive health food stores.

I watched my upline make a million dollars in the telecommunications business with excel. I didn’t have the skillset or belief system to duplicate what he did in 1994. It is possible. Excell went public in the stock exchange and the MLM biz phased out. The prices of long-distance calls dropped too and now all phone plans included long distance in your monthly bill… as far as I know.

I joined one of the cryptocurrency thingies about 4 years ago… my gut told me not to… but a man who I trusted was real excited and the whole thing ended up being a scam. My friend invested a lot of his hard-earned money and lost a bundle. I don’t trust that kind of operation. They constantly change names and the same group of people are usually behind the scenes.

Network marketing is legit and you can make money. The problem is there is a lot of shady people in some of these companies and it is really hard work… you have to depend on others to build and good luck with that.

    1. Thank you, Brian, for sharing your experiences.

As you say, network marketing is a legit way to earn although I struggle to find any that are worth the effort.

A lesson learned it would appear and just goes to show that you can’t believe anything anybody tells you.

      Thank you for your support

  4. With such a business model how is this company surviving till now – This is the first thought that crossed my mind as I read your post. Thanks for going deep and providing such indepth informative post. Its time people realize with having of apps and with a substandard product you cannot make money online.

Making money online and creating a thriving online business takes time…invest your hard earned money in educating yourself in learning legitimate ways to make money online.

  5. Hi Mick,

I hate three things about Crowd1. The first, success rate of Crowd1 seems quite low, and there are only 1% of people who sit on the highest level can earn decent money while the majority fail. Second, the products they provide for members to promote seems skeptical. The last, complaints are all over the online places. I will skip this one & find another one to make money online. I still prefer affiliate marketing to build my online business. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Matt

    1. Hey Matt, thanks for spending time to check out this Crowd1 Review.

This is a business that has really taken off especially in underdeveloped countries, like Africa, India etc taking what little money these people have and promising great wealth.

Very clever in how this is set up and with over 10 million affiliates but one to stay away from.

      Thank you for your comment

  6. They will succeed in convincing you with their tricks to believe them and put your hard earned sum by promising you 100% guarantee and at the end you will end up getting nothing and they keep demanding high fees when you ask for a withdrawal they can never keep to their promise after convincing you to invest a huge sum amount with them. I went ahead to seek help to claim my money back. Luckily for me I came across a testimony of a victim who was able to recover back his stolen asset online with the help of a binary option recovery expert, Mr. Micheal Christopher who is an expert in recovery of any online stolen asset, and to my greatest surprise, i reached out to him and laid my complain, and he took my case and him and his team was able to recover back my money and get it refunded back to me via an online banking platform which was reliable and trusted for funds withdrawal service, and my life was restored. I barely share my problem with anyone, because i thought i lost it all. I am sharing this because I did not believe I could recover my money back, and also to serve as an opportunity to anyone who has fallen victim. If you have already had an encounter with them, you can feel free to seek help from the recovery team through his private email address, michealchristopher057@gmail.com, if you have similar issues withdrawing your funds, you still stand 100% chance of getting your money back, likewise me.

    1. Thanks for passing on your experience Linda and showing that there is hope, if someone, unfortunately, finds themselves in a similar position to yourself.
